Challah bread

In this opportunity I will present you the delicious Challah:

  • The Challah is part of the Jewish culture
  • It is baked on the day of Shabbat, it is the seventh day of creation, it represents the rest of God, therefore, it is very spiritual.
  • This plate has the shape of a braid, represents the union of matter with spirit.


Nutrition Facts:
Yield: 24 portions of 50g (approx.). Makes two large breads

Ingredients:
Amount Ingredients
4 cups Wheat flour
2 tbsp Yeast
1 tbsp Sugar
1 Beaten egg
1 tbsp Salt (optional)
1/3 cup Oil
3/4 cup Warm water



Directions:
  • On the counter, make a crown with the flour.
  • In the center add yeast, sugar, oil, egg slightly beaten.
  • Sprinkle salt on the outside of the crown.
  • Integrate the ingredients starting at the center, gradually including the flour from the crown, and adding the water little by little.
  • Knead a few minutes until the dough is smooth.
  • Form 8 rolls.
  • Let them rise for 15 minutes.
  • Form canes of 1 ft long (approx). And with them, make two braids of 4 or 3.
  • Let the braids rest on a previously floured sheet until they double in volume.
  • Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake at 355°F until golden brown, let cool and ready to eat!
